Product Analytics
Product analytics is the collection and analysis of how people actually use a product, turning in-app behavior into insight about engagement, friction, and retention.
Product analytics tracks events, such as feature usage, funnels, session activity, and cohort behavior, to answer questions like which features get used, where users drop off, and what separates users who stay from those who churn. Unlike traffic analytics, which counts visits, product analytics focuses on what happens inside the product after someone arrives.
It matters because it grounds product decisions in evidence rather than assumption. Teams use it to find the most valuable workflows, spot friction in key journeys, measure whether a release improved behavior, and prioritize work based on real impact rather than the loudest voice in the room.
Analytics answers 'what' and 'how much'; feedback answers 'why'. A drop-off in the data points to where users struggle, and direct feedback explains the reason behind it. Reading the two together, you can act on the right problems and confirm afterward whether your fix changed behavior.
