Feature Prioritization
Feature prioritization is the process of deciding the order in which to build features by weighing their value, effort, and impact against limited time and resources.
Every team has more ideas than capacity, so prioritization is the discipline of choosing what to build next and what to defer or drop. Teams use frameworks like RICE, value-versus-effort scoring, or weighted impact to compare options on a consistent basis, balancing customer demand, business goals, and the cost of building. The output is a defensible order, not just a wish list.
It matters because the cost of working on the wrong feature is the better feature you never shipped. Good prioritization keeps a team focused on the changes that move the needle and provides a clear rationale when stakeholders ask why one request beat another. Done badly, the loudest voice or the newest request wins by default.
Strong prioritization needs evidence of demand, and that comes from feedback. In Feedjolt, customer votes and grouped requests show how many people want each thing and how strongly, so the order you choose reflects real demand rather than internal guesswork.
